Azure App Service handles your web workloads with auto-scaling and managed compute. Vertex AI delivers Google Cloud’s machine learning models and pipelines. Together they can power intelligent features right from your production apps. But wiring them up takes more than an API key and good intentions.

At its core, integrating Azure App Service with Vertex AI means connecting two different trust domains. One lives in Azure’s Active Directory-based identity world. The other uses Google’s IAM and service accounts. The trick is translating OAuth 2.0 and OIDC identities so a deployment slot in Azure can call Vertex AI without storing long-lived secrets.

The easiest pattern is to issue short-lived tokens through a central identity broker.
