NYDFS means business, and its standards around access privilege, threat detection, and risk assessment don’t loosen for AI. They tighten.

It’s about continuous monitoring, evidence-based reporting, and over-the-shoulder accountability for every AI function that interacts with sensitive data. Regulations like Sections 500.03 (Cybersecurity Policy), 500.05 (Penetration Testing and Vulnerability Assessments), and 500.09 (Risk Assessment) now implicitly touch AI systems because those systems introduce new threat surfaces and multiplier effects on existing ones.
